In March of last year at Alongside at a recovery retreat I had a nugget of an idea. By August I was able to flesh out that idea in a small document of thoughts. In the last few months we’ve run 7 workshops and received feedback from them. We also have had one foray into Adventures in Bible Study — a near weekly Bible study cafe — or gym.

The idea at it’s simplest / First Hand Truth: Equipping people to study God’s Word

Now, where do we, where do I go from here?

Sunday night I’d like to talk through the history of this idea, discuss where it came from and why it’s important, and walk through the events we’ve planned and developed since then.

Beyond this I’d like to hear some thoughts, encouragements, opinions of you all, my friends. What do you think? Those who have attended an event or two — what was helpful? What impressions do you have?

I haven’t been able to shake this idea – it feels like the idea found me more than I found it. It feels as if my whole life has lead to this point – the good things that were done in ministry and education and experience – even some of the bad things that happened too. All of it. It leads me here.

And so, I would as you, my friends, to come and talk, come and pray, come and see if you can help me determine God’s will for this ministry, for me. Katherine and I would greatly appreciate it.

If you can’t be there, send your thoughts. I would ask that you please consider making the time. I need your encouragement dear friends, and your wisdom.
