Psalm 1
People who know the Word, who study and meditate on it are like…
- A tree planted by streams of water / never left dry!
- Yields fruit in season / has good things produced from his life
- His leaf does not wither / evergreen kind of life!
- In all that he does, he prospers / has a sense of success
- God knows and recognizes the path that they walk
Psalm 19
- The Word can help you revive your soul

- The Word can bring joy to a downtrodden heart
- The Word can bring enlightenment to the eyes of a person
- The Word will be there forever!
- The Word can bring righteousness.

Here are the explicit benefits of Scripture, studying and knowing it, as described in the New Testament. There are many, many more implied by scripture. The benefits are numerous, and probably incalculable.
The Gospels
- It is like bread for the soul, you can sustain life with it. Matthew 4:4
- It tells us what God is doing; particularly with a savior. Matthew 4:14
- The Old Testament points directly at Jesus. Matthew 4:17, Luke 24:27
- They point to eternal life, Jesus. John 5:30-46
- It cannot be broken, it is solid. John 10:35ff
Paul’s Epistles
- They bear witness of Jesus and salvation. Romans 3:21ff
- They were written for our benefit. Romans 4:23-24
- Written to give us hope. Romans 15:4
- Given to give us some guardrails for life. 1 Corinthians 4:6
- Washes us to present us to Christ. Ephesians 5:26
- Is like a weapon to defend and combat evil. Ephesians 6:17

General Epistles and Revelation
- It is alive, and lays us bear before God so that we can grow and be fixed (challenged). Hebrews 4:12

- It is the source of making us new like creatures. James 1:18
- It is able to save us, if we put it into practice. James 1:21

- It is like spiritual milk that can help you grow. 1 Peter 2:1
- It comes from the will of God and not man, so it can be trusted. 2 Peter 1:21
- It can abide in us and live in us and help us defeat evil. 1 John 2:14
